Why Cancer Awareness?

Philanthropy is the promotion of the welfare of others. Philanthropic efforts often involve fundraising and donating money to a good cause. The Founders of Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. chose cancer awareness as the sorority's national philanthropy. The Founders realized almost all of them had been affected by cancer in one way or another. This reiterated to the Founders that cancer is a disease that does not discriminate. They believed it was important to advocate and raise awareness to all manifestations of cancer. Our sorority has supported various cancer-related organizations since we were founded. Our sisters constantly engage in philanthropic work in service of all whom are affected by cancer.

What is C.A.R.E. Week?

C.A.R.E. Week stands for Cancer Awareness- a Real Effort! This is our national philanthropy week that is typically held in April for national cancer awareness month. Our sisters nationwide plan C.A.R.E. Week at their respective schools. Events for C.A.R.E Week have included everything from bake sales to pie-a-sister and our annual Mr. C.A.R.E. Pageant! Our sisters also hold a candle vigil in memory of those who have lost their lives to cancer. All the money raised during C.A.R.E Week is donated to a non-profit organization of our choice!

Bringing Hope Home

We chose Bringing Hope Home as our C.A.R.E. Week Charity of 2016 and again in 2019! We are now excited to announce a national partnership with this wonderful organization! Bringing Hope Home recognizes how the fight against cancer affects all aspects of a person's life and their family life too. The organization aims to bring "unexpected amazingness" to families with cancer.
